and tried now again - "no luck", that is, it works as expected,
sending ACPI power button event to the guest. Depending on the
guest and it's configuration, the recaction is obviously different,
but the thing definitely is not doing nothing, it does "something".
Maybe you also have ACPI disabled, like -no-acpi or something?
