[savannah-help-public] Slowness of Savannah in the morning

In September there was a discussion of the fact that Savannah is slow
every day in the morning.  Ward implemented a change suggested by Karl;
after that, the discussion went astray onto how to get more columns
of output from something.

However, the slowness still occurs.  Can anything more be done?
