Note there are two issues: 1) the stock source distribution you built
and 2) the environment you used to build it.
When you say "Tck/Tk 8.0.3" (which works), that only addresses #1.
Per #2, the system libraries, dynamic loader, compiler, assembler,
linker, and any dependent libraries that are required by Tcl/Tk that
were built in that environment, are potential variables. Ideally they
shouldn't be, but with major transitions like glibc-2.0 to glibc-2.1
there can be backward compatibility problems. When such problems are
known by [RPM] packagers the version numbers on those system-specific
packages should cause the install program to cause the user
do re-installs as necessary.
