For a brief period, the Enlightenment versions from their CVS tree were
saving window positions. Version 16 and swarm 2.0.1 seem not to get
along. When I save positions, here is what shows up in ~./swarmArchiver.
(cons '(recruiter default)
(list
(cons 'PolicySpace00
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'PolicySpace01
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'PolicySpace02
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'PolicySpace03
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'PolicySpace04
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'PolicySpace05
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'ProbeDisplay-modelSwarm
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(3 18)))
(cons 'proposalRaster
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'spaceChangeGraph-graph
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0 0)))
(cons 'stabilityGraph-graph
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(0
0))) (cons 'ProbeDisplay-ObserverSwarm
(make-instance 'WindowGeometryRecord #:position '(3 18)))))))
The windows just pile up on top of one another.
I've never been able to get a rise out of the E list or authors about
this issue, although I've bothered them a few times. I certainly don't
have the knowledge of window managers to fix it, so I guess this should
count as a warning to the unwary user. WindowMaker does OK in saving
window positions. fvwm2 does OK too. Not E!
