Follow-up Comment #28, bug #45659 (project octave): I checked in some changes to store the hg id separately in liboctave and liboctinterp so we can easily detect mismatches. A more common problem might be picking up incorrect versions of those libraries from the main octave-gui or octave-cli programs due to some bad LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting or other installation problem. So maybe we should also store another copy of the hg id in the src directory and check for consistency when Octave starts. If we do this, should a mismatch be fatal or just produce a warning?
