Oh, nevermind. It does appear to work for me with 6.x as well.
@gwiora: If you did edit print_usage.m, then make sure you used
debug_on_error (false, "local");
Comment #15 might have been confusing because I used FALSE in the diff but the
preceding text had TRUE. Oops.
