I've just spotted lots of the following in yesterday's system logs,
I don't know if this helps track down the bug..

 [ 5792.789428] bibledit-bin[5573]: segfault at 24 ip 00b0aa83 sp bfacf090
error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1800.3[93b000+3b8000]
 [ 5795.523845] bibledit-bin[5598]: segfault at 1c ip 008ebf5f sp bfec5580
error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1800.3[707000+3b8000]
 [ 5800.520965] bibledit-bin[5649]: segfault at 48 ip 0064ea7c sp bfb48eb0
error 4 in libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0.1800.3[47f000+3b8000]

I'm guessing that most of the numbers keep changing because of where the
code gets loaded, but if that final offset (+3b800) is the location in the
lib, then that should help somewhere...

Hmm I see a -dbg version of libgtk in aptitude... I'll get back to you with
a stack trace...
