Au contraire, I think it's important to establish that academics are often forced into using non-free Java software to test experimental research in free VM's, because that's what their peers use. Whether or not you agree with me or like it, you just helped me to do that ;)

At the same time, it's good to know about another suite, regardless of the licensing restrictions and whether or not they're acceptable ... the desire to do research and publish papers may well come between a man and his morals.

If the intent of licensing the DaCapo suite as such is really just about enforcing a paper citation, then perhaps it can be changed to something comparable to the old BSD license.
