Same here.

The only misfeature in the list you posted is that Emacs computes the 
size of the thumb from the number of characters visible in the window, 
not from the number of lines.  I think Stefan had patches to go by lines, 
but he says the results are not satisfactory enough.

I think the other issues are simply consequences of this single problem.

I agree that we should solve this problem in a reasonable way.
