this doesn't seem to me to be a good time to try to settle problems
with the development process. it's unprecedented that a single,
finite issue has been identified as being the only release blocker,
and there is a lot of tension built up around the release and the
process. it looks like there will be genuine opportunity to address
the development process after the release, and the facts of the way
the process has gone are not going to fade.

sometimes you have to wait. more. personally, i urgently want the
pending multi-tty capabilities
(http://lorentey.hu/project/emacs.html), but i see settling the
release as much more important, no question, even if it means missing
a window to land lorentey's changes . likewise with other
developments - when someone is maxed out, telling them "just give me
instructions and i can get out of your hair" often is more load for
the subject than that requester realizes.

(incidentally, this seems like the worst possile moment for questions
about perceptions of failures in the process. talk about loaded
questions! how could you expect a productive conversation about that
right now? i would wait on that kind of thing, unless you honestly
think they're needed for a direction change that will help *right
now*.)

i like emacs 22. a lot. i look forward to it landing.
