    Do you mean that we can simplify ChangeLog as well, or do you want this
    shortening to only apply to the CVS logs?

This simplification can be done in ChangeLog too.

So I guess we could use a program to split it up file by file,
and run that program on the hand-simplified ChangeLog file.
