Odd.
FWIW, my config requires everything, then does all the hook
modification and (planner-insinuate-world) stuff, _then_ setq's
diary-file. Thinking that might be the problem, I moved the
(setq diary-file) up between the requires and the hook modification,
and it doesn't make a difference.
My configuration system/mess is a bit, um, baroque, but I can throw
things up online somewhere if looking at the actual files would be
helpful.
