We haven't heard anything from Phil yet - Phil, have you spoken to
anyone yet? I did make the offer of looking someone up in London if
Phil's workload &computer lifting got in the way - that offer's still
good.

I'm inclined to agree, so long as you can see a formal incorporation
route we can take. We already know that an I&PS can be converted to a
Ltd, so as long as we have a known route to becoming an I&PS we keep our
options open. I suspect this won't be a problem - it's merely a legal
device at the end of the day anyway. Getting AFFS registered as soon as
possible would be good though - we don't want to leave ourselves open to
possible changes in the future (either from someone trademarking it
before we incorporate, or us incorporating and finding another AFFS in
existance!)

If we 'unincorporate' now (!) we can start getting on with constitutions
I think - does anyone see a problem with this? Obviously, they may need
alteration/adulteration for actual incorporation, but the spirit will
remain the same..

I can do that if you like.

I'm hoping that the FSFE will be coming to this, but certainly AFFS
should be there, sharing with FSFE or not. Personally, I'd like to think
not sharing (so people don't get the impression we're the same
organisation), but that depends on staffing levels.

We could make a day-trip out of it ;) I can get to Paris very easily -
Le Eurostar ;) - but my French c'est terrible :(

The other 'meet' is UKUUG:

UKUUG Winter Conference & Perl Tutorial
13th & 14th February 2002 - SOAS, University of London

Obviously we can't hijack their conference, but if enough AFFS people go
it would be possible to have a meeting there if necessary.

That was me too ;) I've actually written to the e-Minister for a proper
quote; I'm hoping to have a finished article within a week or two.

That would be hypocrisy of the highest order, coming from me ;) Let he
who is without sin cast the first stone, etc. etc....

Cheers,

Alex.
