Vectorization of an illustration gives you nothing much more than you
had before (except of some cases of course. Cartoon like artworks fits
nicely most of the time unless you use shading). The best way I've found
is actually sketching on paper, scanning, and then painting :)

I whish I had the power of gimp mixed with something like illustrator
(fireworks?), but then I realize that I often zoom to correct
single pixels by hand.

So I usually work with relatively big pictures, and scale them down to
produce the final image. If someone has experience in this sense, I'd
like to hear any suggestion. I'm *not* an artist by profession either..
just some random hacks.
