Java is not a high-level language by current standards.  High-level
languages (or 4GLs) are usually domain-specific and not imperative
(think of SQL).

The use of Java throughout the industry just underlines that the
promises of 4GLs were not fulfilled.  Java doesn't even operate on a
higher abstraction level than C++.
