curses and ncurses have been the same thing for a long time.  Some 
people just prefer the old naming convention.

To install it, not having Jessie at hand, I think you do it this way:

$ sudo apt-get install libncurses5-dev

I hope you are keeping track of your progress,  when you get this working
you can tell us what to add to the build.txt.
