Yeah, I broke GIT downloads, Han-Wen fixed this yesterday night.

This code tries to look at the actual versions of the downloaded
git repositories. Before any build ord download happens,
all python code is executed and build commands are checksummed.

The first time however, no downloaded tree is available.
This is expected but should be harmless; a fix would be nice but is
so easy, I imagine.
