Prepare your cheque book...  and/or your benchmarking platform.  I don't
think this should cause a noticeable performance issue given the number
of actually executed \once statements in a typical document (once you
have the stuff in an actual music variable rather than a #{ ... #}
executed at runtime, things should not be different, and of course, you
can improve your payoff by actually using \once just once on a whole
set), but you never know.  And I am far too lazy to benchmark on my own.

Currently doing the regtests, and of course, giving the nature of \once,
one should compare the resulting visuals.

And somebody(TM) should write matching documentation and regtests.
