As for \hcenter and \column, should I leave these as duplicates of \center-align and \left-column (which would help minimize user complaints), or remove them?
I would suggest they are left available for 2.11 and 2.12, with a warning issued in 2.12 whenever they are used, and removed in 2.13 and beyond. Could this be adopted as a general approach whenever possible in
future, or would it cause too many complications?
