My guess is that we mostly don't care.  Also, MT doesn't seem to me to
cause any particular problems.

What would probably help (as already suggested) would be a few
automate commands: to get the root of a workspace containing a given
directory; to get the per-user config directory; to get the
bookkeeping directory of a workspace.  Maybe also the filename for
MT/work, for applications that want to access that.  

If those were in 0.26, then it ought to be less horrible to rename
later---perhaps months later, after everyone's upgraded to 0.26 and
all the scripts and things use the new commands.
