Hm.. why didn't any of this get merged into mainline? Looks like there are more good ideas lying around in that branch.

I will have a look at the binary rosters thing.

ChangeLog:
Remove zeroing of memory used by Botan to do compression. 1.06x
reduction in client time, 1.02x in server time.

Hm.. I see the problem now, but we really shouldn't modify the included botan library. Better make that configurable. (As Jack pointed out, that isn't necessarily easy either - however, it would cause much ).
