Why would line numbers use a specific color when the rest of the UI uses 
reverse video and the console color? It would be best if reverse video was the 
default, to match the UI, and an option was added to change the foreground and 
background colors of the line numbers.

What about an option to use either line or space? Or an option to choose any 
sequence of characters to place after the line numbers. With reverse video, no 
horizontal spacing would be needed between the line numbers and text file 
contents, since there is no vertical spacing between the current UI and text. 
If there was an option to select a sequence of characters and it had its own 
color option, it could be set to one or more colorless spaces to create a 
horizontal gap. It could also be set to a reverse video space and the line 
numbers could be non-reverse video. Many combinations with just those three 
options...
