Hi Mike, 
yes you are right: one patch per bugfix and not all at once. 
I had a look at the sources and the //! comment exists only ONCE in cc-files.


The /** style is used more frequently but in general doxygen comments seem to
be sparse. 
May I make a suggestion? 
Since there are also java sources, let us use java style working also with
javadoc. 

What is wrong with <code></code> markup in doxygen comments? 
I think even it is analogous to how octave comments m-files. 

So at the moment I did not include any docs. 
Could you decide on how to start doxygen comments 
and whether to use html-markup in doxygen comments 
and put a note into the manual?
