I ran a few commands below. I had no problems until "quit".

octave:2> close all

octave:6> plot(1:10)

octave:8> plot(1:10)
octave:9> surf(peaks)
octave:10> ca=nan

octave:10> quit

panic: Segmentation fault -- stopping myself...
attempting to save variables to `octave-core'...
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::length_error'
  what():  basic_string::_S_create
panic: attempted clean up apparently failed -- aborting...
