You're building on Linux, not OS X, right?  There are known issues with 
OpenEXR and Apple's gcc prior to 3.1.

Didn't Apple announce that Shake wouldn't be developed any further on 
non-Apple OS's when they bought Nothing Real?  Or have they taken that 
back?
