Shake definately has ABI issues with newer gcc/other compilers, Apple have not commited to do anything although they have tried building shake with the newer ones ...
You're building on Linux, not OS X, right? There are known issues with OpenEXR and Apple's gcc prior to 3.1.
might thoughts are they probably wouldn't want to compile shake under new gcc versions (where you get all the vectorising support for MMX/SSE/etc) except on the Mac platform where they'll magically repair the performance gap between the shake on linux/windows vs OSX by using one compiler on one and another on the rest ... maybe I'm biased ... :-)
Didn't Apple announce that Shake wouldn't be developed any further on non-Apple OS's when they bought Nothing Real? Or have they taken that back?
