Hi.
1. Pan does not use Open Transport.
2. I don't know if there's a binary installer available. I used to build my
own (outside of Fink) by installing all the dependencies and then compiling Pan
from source, and it was much, much easier to use Fink. Fink may be your best
bet, or else use a news reader that's easier to install.
