antialiasing is suposed to help with low resolution screens. and does a
lot of the time (especially with subpixel rendering)

It should be noted that this has nothing to do with bitmapped vs. vector
fonts. both Xft and Xcore support bitmapped AND truetype/vector fonts.
Xft has the ability to do antialiasing and subpixel rendering for
laptops however, but requires more resources and has more dependencies
than Xcore fonts.

The ability to support Xft would be nice in ratpoison for people with
really low resolution screens and laptops. It should be straightforward
to make it a compile-time option.
