I tried this, and it works better, but still not quite right--the dots are
in the upper quadrant of the raster, rather than spread out across the
whole thing.  I haven't played with the new version enough to know what the
effect of the zoom factor is.  Also, it put in the calls to setHeight and
width, and it didn't make any difference.
