The Swarm documentation has never been very good at identifying exactly
which versions of the required libraries are needed by (or work with) a
given release of Swarm, or which versions of these libraries need each other.

The 1.2 documentation is a huge step forward in this regard, but a couple
of messages like the one quoted here prompted this response.

I believe it would be helpful if the documentation (at a minimum, the
README file in the ftp directory) identified the relationships between
libraries and Swarm versions.

To get things going, I've patched together this list. Please fill in, and
make sure it goes back a couple of versions (I'd say at least back to 1.0.5).
