cons error from other than .swarmArchiver ?

hi Folks,

I've got two apps that run perfectly on my Win95 laptop, but
both are hanging on Win98 with the cons error that usually signifies
trouble with my .swarmArchiver. But I'm still getting this error
after I (a) delete my .swarmArchiver file, (b) try the .swarmArchiver
that works perfectly on my laptop, and even (c) reinstall Swarm 2.0.1
from binaries, reboot, and even power cycle.

Any advice? My laptop is a lot slower and the Win98 box is
my main lab machine so I'm hoping to fix this soonish. But I'm
not sure what to try next. Fwiw, my .swarmArchiver behaves
nicely on the laptop, saves all window positions correctly, etc.
This trouble did *begin* with .swarmArchiver trouble, but I've
long since fixed that on the laptop. Nothing fixes the Win98 yet.

Btw, my new second app is a simple epidemiological diffusion
model that has villagers who stay close to home and jet-setters
who visit villages and then fly around _via the network_.

I've also figured out how to set colors in EZGraph and add
multiple plot lines, if anyone is curious.

many thanks for any advice,

Catherine

This problem, too, will look simple after it is solved.
