The latest is ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/make/make-3.79.1.tar.gz.
Oh, these warnings could happen for a build in the source directory. Are
you not using a separate build directory (configuring with
$srcdir/swarm-2001-12-28/configure --srcdir=$srcdir/swarm-2001-12-28)?
If that's it, it should be harmless.

Grab GCC 3.0.2 from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gcc/gcc-3.0.2/gcc-3.0.2.tar.gz,
untar it, and then cd into gcc-3.0.2 and run "patch -p1 < the-patch-file".
Then rebuild Swarm..
