        Dear Yifeng,

your description of the cygwin installation increases my suspect that something is now wrong with the package. My suggestion is that of reinstalling cygwin. You have to delete two registers, with regedit (Software\Cygnus Solutions' under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and/or HKEY_CURRENT_USER) and to delete the \cygwin folder.

A suggestion: with setup.exe first of all download the packages from Internet and then Install from local directory. If something goes wrong, you have locally the installation stuff.

To install Swarm you have only to unpack it; if you have it in c:\, from cygwin execute the followin lines:

cd /cygdrive/c/
tar zxf Swarm-2.2-pretest-10.tar.gz
mkdir /Swarm-2.2
mount 'c:\Swarm-2.2' /Swarm-2.2

Then create in your cygwin home directory a .bashrc file containing:

export SWARMHOME=/Swarm-2.2
export SWARMDIR=/Swarm-2.2
PATH=.:$SWARMHOME/bin:$PATH
export PATH
export LESSCHARSET=latin1
export TMPDIR=/tmp
export LTDL_LIBRARY_PATH=/Swarm-2.2/lib
alias ls='ls --color=auto'
cd

        The best, Pietro

Pietro, thank you very much for helping me. I did have a full installation of Cygwin. Did somebody you know have a sucessful installation of Swarm-2.2 on Windows recently? It's tricky even just to install Cygwin. The Cygwin's setup.exe hangs during post-installation script phase. I worked around by selecting "pre" (previous) packages for installation. After Cywin is working, I run setup.exe again and selected "cur" (current), which updated/installed some more packages. In both installation, I had a full installation (selecting "install" for "all"). Because of this unhappy experience with Cygwin installation, I am kind of hestitate to install it again. But I'll do it if it's necessary.

Again, any help on this will be appreciated.

It seems like you don't have a full installation of Cygwin; try it, assuring that the choice screen is similar to the attached one.

        Anyway, use pretest 10.

        All the best, Pietro

Hi all:

I have been trying to install Swarm in the past several days and hit some problems. My computer has Windows XP Home in it. I successfully installed all Cygwin packages (the lastest version) and it is working. Then I installed Swarm-2.2-pretest-10, which is the latest version at this time. I set the mount and path correctly. However, when I run heatbugs, I get the error message that "cygtcl80.dll was not found". I then tried to install the package tcktk-20001125 which contains the needed dll. However, the current Cygwin setup.exe doesn't allow me to install it. I also tried pretest-9 and pretest-6 and wasn't able to make it. I can't uncompress pretest-7. Don't know if it's my problem or the file was corrupted. I am trying pretest-8 now.

I have an ongoing project implemented in Swarm. So I really need swarm up and running. Any sugge! stions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
