This is simple, Watson. Android without Google gives more power to the Free Software community. Imagine that Android desktop environment and libraries are ported over to GNU/Linux, such as Debian. Google will say, that this is not Android, therefore you cannot have proprietary Google software for it, which includes Google Play, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Earth and several more killer apps ... In addition to that, some people claim that Google is spying on it's users, and that phones are surveillance devices.

Basically the OSS community want to increase control over the Android ecosystem (today only Google and,to a lesser degree Samsung have such control) . Having Android without Google will let the community to alter game rules, and remove any possible surveillance and advertising features from the system. I am not saying this is good or not, as I prefer with Google, just saying what some Free Software hackers feel.
