Oops, I have not thought on (2).
Just for curiosity: if you try local directory output
in source mode with -prettysrc you got lines truncated with LY_SOFT_NEWLINE
at some strange position (perhaps a position where raw line
with href= anchors reach LYcols border). If you print that output
to email (or local file - it is currently blocked unless you tweak LYPrint.c)
you will see yet another (third) output.
