Does it make sense to ask

$ aptitude why libaubio-dev

? (I'm out of my depth here, of course)

$ aptitude why libaubio-dev

Unable to find a reason to install libaubio-dev.

If I remove this package, configure says:

configure: error: Package requirements (aubio >= 0.3.2) were not met:

No package 'aubio' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you

installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBAUBIO_CFLAGS

and LIBAUBIO_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.

I need to have installed both libaubio4 and libaubio-dev to pass the configure checks.
