I think it might be better if we gave people examples that they were more
familiar with (maybe a seperate sheet giving examples of major free
software ?).

If I were listing examples of free software to a windows user, the apps
I think would be most recognizable are,

Quake 1/2 (Didn't go the traditional OSS way, but the source code for both
are now GPL)

Morpheus 2 (Yet unreleased, but a lot of people will reconize the name)

WinJab (Jabber client, not that well known but popularity growing) 

MiKTEX (Probably unknown outside the Windows Maths community, but an
important piece of software nevertheless)

I'm sure there is another major GPL program for windows, but I can't seem
to remember what is was atm.
