You're being optimistic.

He doesn't even reply when sending patches (to state whether they're
useful or improvable or nonsense..). I don't intend to place any direct
blame on him, because he may keep track of patches locally, but just
consider replying being unecessary/whatever.

That's why I want to promote http://bashdb.sf.net -- they're extremely
more likely to give feedback.
