If you grok patch-logs and their relation to whats-missing and the
merging commands, then you qualify for a license to tag in otherwise
simple development branched versions.  In the state of California
there is a small fee and a multiple-choice test -- I'm not sure how
they handle it in Japan.

However, I wonder if in 9/10 of your occaisional cases, you wouldn't
rather `get' the thing you would tag, `sync-tree' with the version you
want to commit to, then commit.
