Well, if you don't like Debian, try Slackware or if you would like to try
BSD, certainly FreeBSD is worth the try. If you find FreeBSD a bit more
user-friendly, then OpenBSD is what you are looking for -- I like it, it's
just few (5-11) tarballs for installation and installation itself is just
one shell script.
