Yeah, that'd be an option, I guess.  There's kinda a problem in that
while I could log onto each machine and type "make check", I wouldn't
have any idea how to go about making packages, how to fix things if
there were machine-specific quirks that went wrong, etc... it seems
maybe better to try and parallelize this task, to people who would
actually be scratching itches by helping :-)
