Follow-up Comment #14, bug #38305 (project octave):

I still can not reproduce this, even with connected network shares. On my
windows system the file dialog seems to test all devices (e.g. the floppy
drive is shortly selected). Maybe there is a broken samba share that can not
be accessed?

Concerning the warning message, do you see the file dialog translated or not
(if using a language setting other than en_US)?
