    Hello,
Yes, it must be an incorrect library path setting. I haven;t
touched the demo Makefiles beyond setting Swarmhome to /usr/local, so I
guess it may be an error in my original configuration. Having set CFLAGS
to -O2, the only additional commands I gave to configure were:
"--with-xpmdir=/usr/local/swarm-1.4/xpm" (to get around what I imagine
was the same problem - calling an o32 lib), and " --disable-shared"

The system default setting is n32, mips4, so the problem's not
there. Is Makefile.common the only additional file involved in the make
process? The only references to /lib I can find follow the swarmprefix
(/usr/local). If I could find the root of the /lib call I could change
it by hand, even if that's a rather inelegant solution. Presumably the
originator of the "-L/lib" reference in compilation was also responsible
for finding the wrong xpm. I think I'm asking at what stage swarm
decides to make using n32 (/lib32) rather than 032 (/lib)? Could it be
that I need to set a gcc variable somewhere ( I installed gcc directly
from the sgi freeware site).

    Thanks,
    Jonathan
