Right, the default is nil which means "use the built-in Kaffe Java system".
Java users that want to do more Java GUI things may want to put
"(setq *use-jdk* t)" in the file .emacs_custom (same directory as .emacs).
Emacs will then look in the registry for where Sun JDK is installed
and use that.
