Thanks, Alex and Riolo. I use RH Linux 7.3 with GIMP built within, and I selected Gnome while i was installing Linux. What I did was to type gimp at the shell, and then was asked to configure the settings such as dpi and installation folder, and then it was done. I found GIMP is very good at grabbing windows in the screen into its edit area, saving into whatever format I want (say JPEG and BMP), and editing them. It is a little like photoshop in Windows.

Regards,

Li

Li,

Firstly, you should tell what distribution you are using. This is
basic Linux adminstration stuff, not related to Swarm. You should
consult your manual about how to find/download/install packages for
you distribution before using this list. Most distros will have that
information:

 SuSE: www.suse.com
 Red Hat: www.redhat.com
 Mandrake: www.mandrakesoft.com
 Debian: www.debian.org

Gimp is normally a standard on almost all distributions if you've
selected GNOME when you did your original installation, and/or can be
found as a package on the original CD-ROM and/or ftp site for your
distribution.

You should *always* use the package that is built for your
distribution (e.g. if you're running Red Hat, don't install a SuSE
RPM, that'll just give you grief, even though the package file format
is the same).

Again, please study the manual for the distribution you are using and
use other existing resources (newsgroups, mailing lists) about
downloading and installing packages.
