Do you use remember to create your notes?  i.e. (require
'remember-planner)?  M-x remember puts each note you make on your
daily page and on a project page.  Thats how I "categorize" notes.  Of
course it doesn't do multiple categories, but I haven't missed this.
This is kind of like journal mode.
