In my case precious.  It's expensive but possible to re-acquire
and should not be in the archive.


Then why are you giving it an arch id? An id indicates that you want to be considered source.

I moved it _out_ of txtdir/.  And put a .arch-inventory file in
txtdir/ which classifies everything there as precious.  And
changed the Makefile to copy it back in txtdir/ before anything
runs.  And then wanted to commit this change, but failed --
with the wierd error message that foodcodes was not in txtdir/.

I'd have left it in txtdir/ but the hardcoded arch nameing
rules made for really grody regexps if I wanted to make
everything in txtdir/ but foodcodes.txt precious.
