Very good plan.

The problem is that I simply don't know. Which means that we have to

1) prepare very flexibly
2) gauge the audience reactions VERY carefully (if you watch people
carefully, you CAN see them either puzzled or bored).

Better to be slightly too simple than slightly too complex. They'll ask
if they're interested.

Yes, I'd start around there probably, explaining *where* loom is in our plans.

Then, about focus+context and our technologies (libvob) helping us
do this FAST (how many manhours did it take to get loom running, starting
from scratch? THAT's impressive)

I'd start from this, mentioning the causes and then move to the general vision.
