compilers are invoked correctly during pkg install as far as I can tell from
watching Activity monitor.
What could cause error:
/Applications/Octave-4.4.0.app/Contents/Resources/usr/Cellar/octave-octave-app_4.4.0/4.4.0/include/octave-4.4.0/octave/ov.h<built-in>:
internal compiler error: Illegal instruction: 4

OCTAVE_DEPRECATED (4.4, "use 'isnumeric' instead")
I have not tried uninstall homebrew octave and testing yet. Will do and let
you know.
