Is it true that not only makeinfo, but also texi2html are needed for
compiling the documentation?
We are using the texi2html capabilities to custom the output. If you
doesnt have texi2html installed then makeinfo is selected.

configure.ac. Did
it fail for you?
Well, just the first time, when I did not have neither texi2html nor makeinfo available. After installing texinfo and texi2html packages everything went fine.
