A patch seeking for makeinfo will be > able to provide a convenient error message in configure time. A simple patch to check for 'makeinfo' at configure time. I also corrected the way AC_MSG_ERROR is called when AC_CHECK_PROG fails to find the required program. Commited. Thanks.
